Cucumber Congrats

I got the idea for this card from Mitosu Crafts and just had to have a go at making it - I changed the colours though.  Then I discovered that it does not fit into a standard size envelope!!  Bother!!

I really enjoy learning new ways to use Stampin' Up products.

The back

Ready for posting - hhmmm - just need to find that right sized envelope.

No Shame In Copying

Product of the Week
No Shame in Copying

Copying another person’s work is a no-no in many areas of life. But in the world of papercrafting, we say go for it! There’s no reason to come up with a creative idea or project from scratch when there are millions for you to look to. We call it CASEing: Copy And Share Everything!
Here are a few guidelines:
  • Start with Stampin’ Up!—find ideas in these weekly emails, quarterly Stampin' Success issues and in every catalogue.
  • If you copy a project from another crafter, give them credit by name whether you’re posting their name online or saying it verbally at an event.
  • When you create original projects that you post online, consider adding a watermark that gives your name and website so people know where it came from. And if you share other peoples’ project images, make sure to keep their watermark intact.
  • Don’t forget the Share part of CASEing and share your ideas freely. Take it as a compliment if someone is inspired by your idea!
We decided to do a little CASEing of our own using Sale-A-Bration’s popular Avant Garden Stamp Set. We found three projects on Pinterest to copy, and switched a few things up to give them a different twist. Click the links below to see these demonstrators’ original ideas!

Colouring books for adults are everywhere. They bring out the kid—and the Zen—in all of us! Now you can jump on the trend with Sale-A-Bration’s Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper which is free with a purchase of $110.00.  Just remember that Sale-A-Bration finishes at the end of March.
1. Colour Therapy
Use markers for detailed colouring like we did on this gorgeous box. Just cut the paper out with a die, colour, relax and then assemble.
2. Outside the Lines
Use sponge daubers on the paper for a quick and easy but awesome effect.
3. Leave It Alone
Don’t forget that the paper has a cool black-and-white look from the start. Use it as a background and add a vibrant element front and center like we did with our fairy.
Whether you like the colour therapy or the quick and easy, you’ll love playing with this paper!

First Time Use of Photopolymer Stamps

If you love using photopolymer stamps, this tip will be helpful in preparing your stamps before first use.  The ease and convenience of using these photopolymer stamps in your paper crafting and card making is great.
Let's take a look at the tip video from Lisa Solis Brown.

If you've ever used photopolymer stamps, brand spankin' new out of the box, you may have possibly noticed an uneven image when stamping.  I've found that if I do the VersaMark trick as seen in the video, I seldom have this problem.  Do I forget sometimes? You bet I do!  I will just clean my stamp and go through the process of inking in VersaMark before giving it another try.
It's a fact that your photopolymer stamps will most likely get stained from your inks.  It's ok.  Just clean after each use and it will be good and ready to go for the next time.  Want to minimize that staining?  Try the VersaMark trick first.  While it doesn't prevent all staining, I've found that it does indeed minimize it.
Here's another tip for anytime you are using photopolymer stamps.  Use a Stampin' Pierce Mat as a cushion.  It will give you even pressure and ink coverage and also protect your work surface.

Retirement!!

It's almost that time of year again!!!  Retirement!

If you are familiar with the Stampin' Up! In Colors, you know that we have a set of 5 colors that only last for 2 years, then they retire and are replaced with 5 new colors.  So, you may be wondering about the 5 retiring colors.
Question:   why are you talking about them now?
Answer: NOW is the time to stock up on a reinker for your ink pad, on cardstock, designer paper, and on the ribbon or embellishments you enjoy in these colors BEFORE they are sold out, AND while you can enjoy FREE Sale-a-Bration gifts on your purchases!!

Don't delay.. if you wait too long to order your retiring In Color supplies, you'll end up paying BIG prices on ebay when Stampin' Up! supplies are exhausted... trust me... I know this. :)
